The lyrical charm of the trio is felt in the exuberant posture of the male figure, piping a mystical, and we sense, uplifting tune; while his companions join in the music and the dance, with a frolicking, unselfconscious joy. The Trumpeter, with the breeze ruffling her hair and skirts, blows an elegant trumpet held between delicate fingers. The piper dips low, and pipes her tune with an air of mystery and allure – we are drawn into the tableau, intrigued by the dance.
