Amaluna as experienced by Richard MacDonald is a character that defies categorization. It is human, but it takes the aspect of human being as chameleon to a new level of mystery. There is a rhythm that we feel, as we look at the balls suspended, and see Viktor moving in our mind’s eye – a strange moment where the static sculpture seems to come to life. This is the key to the excitement of Richard MacDonald’s work, and Amaluna is an exemplary piece.
